Electricity companies are required by law, under the Electrical Inspection Act, to conduct inspections of electrical installations within their supply areas. The purpose of these inspections is to prevent fires and accidents caused by electricity.

As a homeowner, you are obligated to grant access to your electrical system for inspection. There is no additional cost for this inspection, as it is already covered as part of your electricity bill. During the inspection, we look for deviations that could lead to fires, accidents, or harm to individuals. If any deviations are found, we will issue a notice describing the deficiencies in your system and what actions you need to take to rectify them.

The formal name of the inspection unit is the Local Electrical Supervision (DLE). Inspections are mandated by the Electrical Inspection Act, and guidelines for the work are provided by the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB). The DLE has the authority to inspect and mandate the correction of any hazardous conditions in customers' installations.

The DLE's tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct inspections in private residences and businesses
  • Engage in active information campaigns
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, electrical industry, and other businesses regarding the use of electricity and electrical equipment
  • Follow up on reports from the public about potentially non-compliant or concerning conditions
  • Assist the police and fire departments in investigating fires
  • Provide information about electrical safety in schools
