There are many reasons why people may be concerned about electrical safety. You may be unsure if the electrical system is in order or if the electrical equipment is functioning properly. This is something you can address!

Owners and users of electrical systems and equipment are responsible for ensuring that everything is in order and used in a safe manner. This also entails a responsibility to take warning signs seriously and take necessary measures to prevent hazardous situations.

If you are aware of any electrical issues that may pose a risk to you or others, you can share your concerns with the Local Electrical Inspection Authority (DLE). However, before submitting any concerns to the DLE, you should first consider if the issue can be resolved in other ways.

If you are concerned about your own electrical system

If you suspect that there are faults in your electrical system, as the owner, you are obliged to contact a registered installation company to have this clarified and any faults rectified. Tenants also have a responsibility to ensure that the electrical system they use is in order. If you, as a tenant, discover faults in the electrical system, you must promptly report this to the owner. The responsibility for maintenance and rectification of faults should be outlined in the rental agreement.

Are you concerned about others' electrical systems?

If you have noticed anything concerning about electrical systems that are not your own, you can report this to us via email.

Are you worried about unauthorized installation workers?

DLE's priority is to follow up on businesses and individuals who unlawfully carry out installation work. If you have knowledge of such activities, you can submit a report to us, preferably via email.
