If you are building a new house, cabin, or commercial building, it is important to plan the power supply at an early stage. To ensure the correct dimensioning of intake cables, conduits, and grounding, it is important to contact both the utility company and electrical contractor early in the planning phase. Trenches for intake cables and grounding are among the first things to consider.

In residential and leisure buildings, a common external connection cabinet for electricity and fiber must be used. This is where the meter will be installed. It is natural to use the contractor on-site for the establishment of cable trenches up to the connection cabinet. The utility company provides the intake cable and connects it. It varies whether it is the contractor or the utility company that lays the actual cable. In cases where it is practically feasible, the construction power box is connected to the connection cabinet. See the order form for construction power.

If you wish to connect to the power grid, the procedure is as follows:

  • Contact us so we can clarify if there is a power grid and available capacity in the area where you are building. Use the application form for grid connection (Link).
  • The cost of necessary establishment or reinforcement of the power grid must be covered by the customer. This cost will be calculated according to the current regulations for construction contributions. (Link to page about construction contributions, e.g., from Jæren). The utility company will send a cost estimate for the connection in advance of the connection.
  • You must contact an approved installer to carry out the electrical installation. It is the installer who must submit a preliminary notification to us before the work begins. This notification should include the most important details about you as a customer and the necessary data about the installation required to process the application.
  • If we have not received an application for grid connection, we will send out a form (Link to form) for connection application. The connection terms will be included.
  • After receiving the connection application, the cost (construction contribution) will be calculated and sent to you as the customer.
  • It is important that we receive the signed agreement and acceptance of the calculated cost before we start the connection work.
  • Once the installation work is completed and ready for connection, the installer sends a completion notification to us.
  • We install the meter, connect the installation, and send an invoice for the connection.
  • You must choose a power supplier. If you do not choose a supplier, you will automatically receive a mandatory delivery contract with the utility company. These agreements are usually costly, and you should choose a power supplier. See the list of relevant power suppliers here. (link)
